But thus says the Lord, Vengeance is mine!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I see some enemies in your life that have risen up against you in arrogance, yes in their pride and insolence they wanted to destroy you. But God says they\u2019ve picked the wrong fight. Because they were not afraid of the Most High, because they were not afraid to touch His anointed, this is what He\u2019s going to do:<\/span><\/p>\n Because you rejoice and are glad,you who pillage my inheritance,because you frolic like a heifer\u00a0threshing grain and neigh like stallions,your mother will be greatly ashamed;she who gave you birth will be disgraced.She will be the least of the nations\u2014 a wilderness, a dry land, a desert. Because of the\u00a0Lord\u2019s anger she will not be inhabited but will be completely desolate. All who pass Babylon will be appalled; they will scoff\u00a0because of all her wounds.\u201cSee, I am against\u00a0you, you arrogant one,\u201d declares the Lord, the\u00a0Lord\u00a0Almighty, for your day\u00a0has come, the time for you to be punished. The arrogant\u00a0one will stumble and fall and no one will help her up; I will kindle a fire\u00a0in her towns that will consume all who are around her. (Jeremiah 50:11-14, 31-32)<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Babylon used to be a place of great wealth and riches, a land of abundance. A land that all the nations would flock to. The Bible says \u2018you who live by many waters and are rich in treasures\u2019. It was a country that could not be compared to its neighbours in terms of it\u2019s abundance. But when God decided to unleash His fury, when He sent the spirit of a destroyer, He drove it to the ground. Today Babylon is modern-day Iraq, one of the most war-torn, impoverished, and devastated countries in the whole world. It is an image of horror for all who look on it, one that has been completely forsaken by the world. Though it sits on vast amounts of oil, it does not benefit from it. It no longer enjoys those riches. It is experiencing all that God said it would, because God cannot lie. What He says must come to pass.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n This is what the\u00a0Lord\u00a0says: See, I will stir\u00a0up the spirit of a destroyer against Babylon\u00a0and the people of Leb Kamai.\u00a0<\/sup>I will send foreigners\u00a0to Babylon\u00a0to winnow\u00a0her and to devastate her land; they will oppose her on every sidein the day\u00a0of her disaster. The\u00a0Lord\u00a0will carry out his purpose, his decree against the people of Babylon. You who live by many waters and are rich in treasures, your end has come, the time for you to be destroyed. The\u00a0Lord\u00a0Almighty has sworn by himself:\u00a0I will surely fill you with troops, as with a swarm of locusts, and they will shout\u00a0in triumph over you.
