Today we are dealing with the Hivites spirit. The meaning of Hivites is deceit, pretense or naive. People experience Hivites spirit everyday especially in relationships, business, work and mostly our children. Joshua 9:1-19
The Bible tells us about the Gibeonites. The Gibeonites were a part of the Hivites community. They deliberately planned to deceive the children of Israel of their land. Part of their plan was to deceive Joshua by pretending as if, they had travelled from a very far place. They took with them old clothes, shoes etc. Their motive was to preserve their own land while they survive on the provisions of the children of Israel. In addition instead of fighting the children of Israel they tricked Joshua into signing a treaty. Joshua was emotionally influenced and agreed to sign the treaty without enquiring of the Lord.
I saw evil forces that has been assigned to swindle you, we must stop them , we must uproot them. They have kept you in spiritual loop to make believe in their lies.
The Hivite / Gibeonite spirit lured Joshua not to consultant of the Lord. In our everyday lives, people make decisions without consulting your man of God. The end result or outcome can be devastating and costly. Most signed contracts are full of deception. Many people have lost money as a result of being in a deceitful relationship.
The men of Israel sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the Lord. Then Joshua made a treaty of peace with them to let them live, and the leaders of the assembly ratified it by oath. but all the leaders answered, “We have given them our oath by the Lord, the God of Israel, and we cannot touch them now. ( Joshua 9:14,15,19)
